It’s been almost a month now since Lilly had her heart surgery and she is doing amazingly well 🙂 She has so much energy now, it’s wild. This threw me for a loop the first few weeks, since I was used to how sleepy she was before the surgery but, I’m thrilled to see my happy girl being so active. She’s finally eating more too which was the biggest thing we wanted to see. She went from eating 2 ounces per feed on average to now between 3 and 4 ounces.
Honestly, it’s like I have a brand new baby. She sleeps less and wants to play more. I feel like she reaches a new milestone every day and it’s crazy how many things she’s doing now. She’s just growing so fast, I can hardly believe it. Her favorite things to do are babble, make fart noises with her mouth, and spit. She’ll just lay on the boppy and spit at us. I think that’s her way of communicating. She’s also constantly trying to roll over from back to belly, but she’s not quite there yet. She pushes herself with her legs to where her head is facing backward and her torso is sideways, but her butt always just stays where it is.
On Halloween, we took Lilly to an ENT follow-up so he could take a look at her vocal cords. According to the scope, her left vocal cord still isn’t moving but, Lilly sounds so much better than she did after surgery. I think she’s gotten better and I’m sure her vocal cord will be back to normal in no time
Speaking of Halloween, Lilly’s first one was a huge success! My mom bought Lilly the cutest little army pilot costume and, although it was pretty big on her, Lilly looked great. I dressed up as a mama bear and I bought Paul a lion mask. I realize now that we missed an opportunity to be a lion, a tiger, and a bear (oh my) but, there’s always next year.
And if all of that wasn’t enough excitement, it seems that Lilly is finally sleeping through the night! 🙂 I just can’t believe how much progress my little girl is making in such a short amount of time! It almost breaks my heart to see her learning and growing so quickly; I just want her to stay this little forever. I am one proud mama. I don’t think I could be any more proud of Lilly if I tried.
